Crucially, Clooney was in attendance to discuss the issue of sexual violence during conflict, and the potential reclassification of rape as a weapon of war. According to journalist Melissa Kent via Twitter, Clooney revealed at the meeting that "her client & friend ⁦@NadiaMuradBasee⁩ would 'trade her Nobel peace prize in a heartbeat' for the chance to face the #ISIS fighters who murdered her family & 'brutally and repeatedly raped her' in a court of law."

Having been a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate in 2018, Murad now advocates on behalf of victims of sexual violence, and works closely with Clooney, who also wrote the foreword to her book on the subject, The Last Girl: My Story of Captivity, and My Fight Against the Islamic State.
